02-09-2009

Rob van Vijfeijken from the Yamaha van Beers Racing Team rode two strong motos in his home Grand Prix in Lierop last weekend. The rider from Deurne finished in 13th place in both motos and finished 12th overall. Evgeny Bobryshev crashed twice in the first moto and was unable to score. In the second moto Evgeny managed to finish in 15th place and scored 6 points. Carlos Campano also scored 2 points in Lierop.

The circuit of Lierop is known to be very though. The Yamaha van Beers riders had prepared themselves well for this race. The condition of the riders was perfect and the machines were in good shape as well. The weekend started well for the team on Saturday. In the MX2 class Evgeny Bobryshev qualified himself in 10th position and Rob van Vijfeijken finished in 17th position in his qualifying heat. Carlos Campano finished the qualifying heat in 25th position.

Evgeny Bobryshev:

The first moto started with bad luck for Evgeny. He crashed right after the start and it took a while before he could restart his bike. A long way behind the other riders he continued his race. He gave everything he had to score some points but in the second lap he crashed again. After the crash he decided to retire from the race to safe his energy for the second moto. In the second moto he had some nice duels around 15th place and he changed positions several times during the race. He eventually finished in 15th place. Due to not scoring in the first moto he finished 21st overall. After fourteen rounds he sits in 20th position in the World Championship Standings.

Rob van Vijfeijken and Carlos Campano:

Rob van Vijfeijken started the first moto in 18th place. During the race he managed to pass several riders and with still a few laps to go he moved into 12th position. In the final lap he lost a position and after a well-ridden race he crossed the finish line in 13th position. Carlos Campano started the race just outside the top 20 but he immediately started to put the pressure on the riders in front of him. Just after the middle of the race he moved into 18th place. In the closing stages of the race he lost a place and finished in 19th place, which was good for two World Championship points. In the second moto Rob had a better start and came out of the first lap in 14th place. On the heavy circuit Rob had some nice duels but after the middle of the race he took over 13th place and did not gave it away anymore. Carlos Campano was unable to score due to a crash.

Rob finished twelfth overall while Carlos had to be satisfied with 23rd position. After fourteen rounds Carlos sits in 17th position in the World Championship Standings while Rob van Vijfeijken moved into 26th position after the race in Lierop. Next Sunday the Yamaha van Beers Racing Team will start at the 4th round of the Jumbo Dutch Open Championship Series in Oss.
