29-09-2009

Evgeny Bobryshev from the Yamaha van Beers Racing Team finished second overall at the fifth round of the Dutch Open Championship Series in Emmercompascuum last Sunday. In the first moto Evgeny had a difficult start but was able to work himself back up to second position during the race. In the second moto he rode his Yamaha to second place but with still a few laps to go he lost this position and had to be satisfied with third position. Rob van Vijfeijken lost a lot of places in the first moto because he had to make a pit stop because of a bent brake paddle. The rider from Deurne still managed to finish the race in eight position. In the second moto he took a bad start but during the race he passed a lot of riders and finally he finished the race in fourth position.

Evgeny came to Emmercompascuum as leader in the MX2 class and was very motivated to do well. In practice he had a hard time to get into a good rhythm but despite a crash he still ended the session in 10th place. In the first moto he took a good start but in the beginning he crashed and lost several positions. With consistent lap times he worked himself back up to third position. With still a few laps to go he started to put the pressure on the second place rider. It didn’t take him long before he took over this position and after a well-ridden race he crossed the finish line in second position. His start of the second moto was again good and he came out of the first corner in fifth position. It took him a few laps to find a good rhythm but when he finally got it he worked himself back up to second position. Bobryshev tried to keep the pace as high as possible because the championship leader was gaining time on him. The Yamaha van Beers rider did his best but he had to let him pass and so he finished in 3rd place.

Evgeny finished second overall in Emmercompascuum. After five rounds he sits in second position in the Dutch Open Championship Standings and he is only nine points behind the leader of the championship.

Rob van Vijfeijken

started the day very convincing by setting the 2nd fastest time in time practice. In the first moto Rob did not have a good start and went into the first turn in 10th place. Very motivated he worked himself back up to 4th position but unfortunately he collided with another rider and this collision bent his brake paddle. He had to make a pit stop to let it fix and lost a lot of places. Van Vijfeijken came back on the track in 13th place and after that he gave everything he had to pass as much riders as possible. In the final part of the race he was able to overtake a few riders and eventually he finished in 8th place. In the second moto Rob also took a bad start. He had to come back trough the field but in the middle of the race he already moved into 4th position. When he got there the three leaders were too far away to overtake so he had to be satisfied with fourth position.

Rob finished fifth overall and stays in third position in the Dutch Championship Standings. The final round of the Dutch Open Championship Series will take place on the 18th of October at Heerde.
