Monza Match: Marino on podium

17-05-2010

Mei 9th, the Superstock 600 and 1000 races took place on the historic track of Monza. The results of Ten Kate Junior Team were less satisfying than expected: Florian Marino gained a 3rd place in the Stock600 after a leading race and Maxime Berger (Superstock 1000) finished 10th after being penalized due to an unintentional fault. Now, the two French riders are in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the general standings. The next race will take place Sunday, June 27th, so both riders can take advantage of this long stop to think about the best strategy to achieve top placement in the Championships.

Maxime Berger #21, Superstock 1000:

“Monza is clearly not my favourite track: last year I went out, now the 10th position due to a penalty for an unintentional fault on the regulations during a scrimmage in the last lap. During the whole weekend the largest part of the track was wet, these conditions didn’t make things easier. I started from the front row very carefully, aiming at moving up and getting on the podium. I finished in 5th place, but then I was penalized with 20 additional seconds, which made me fall back to 10th position. I’ll be back in Misano to win”.

Florian Marino #21, Superstock 600:

“My goal was getting on the top of the podium. Unfortunately during the first lap I made a mistake that made me slide back to 4th place, wasting positions. I was 3rd at the end of a highly competitive race, always struggling with the other 2 riders in the top positions with me. Despite of all I’m happy anyway and I want to thankl my technicians and team for the work they made these days”.

Domenico Francese, Team manager:

“Florian has done his best here in Monza, as he started with the odds against him, if compared to other riders on different types of machinery. Marino stayed concentrated during the whole weekend, concluding a brilliant race, although a little inaccuracy in the last corner precluded him from the top of the podium. It seems pretty clear now that Marino, as he showed yesterday, is aiming to win in the remaining races of the Championship. The decision not to participate in the Italian Championship that took place in this same circuit last week worked against us in class 1000 Stock: Maxime closed the race in 5th place while two riders that went to podium were those that had raced here last week and who came to this appointment in better conditions”.
