No luck for Ten Kate Junior Team riders at Silverstone

A very big disappointment because the Dutchman came close to a podium finish in round six of the Superstock 600 European Championship. Starting from pole, Van der Mark began carefully after his huge crash at the end of qualifying yesterday. Thanks to great work of his technicians the Honda CBR600RR was like new before the race but this unprecedented achievement was unfortunately not rewarded because of technical problems halfway through the race.

Michael van der Mark (STK600): “We have had incredible bad luck today … That is all I can say. After a careful first lap, it went better and better. A good result was certainly possible, but unfortunately I had to stop in the pits with technical problems. I feel very sorry for my technicians because they have worked so hard and intense last night. These heroes deserve a good result but this is also racing. Hopefully the Nürburgring will be better. Finally, the pole position was certainly great for us. Let us not forget that special moment!”

Lamborghini had other problems as a wasp flew into his helmet just before the start of the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup. Through this incident he lost his concentration for a split second but enough to have a bad start. As always, Lamborghini fought back but the Italian missed out on championship points by two seconds and ended in seventeenth place.

Ferruccio Lamborghini (STK1000): “Except the wasp, I had a good weekend here at Silverstone. Of course I was hoping for a better result but it was not possible. I've learned a lot, like how to ride a Superstock 1000 bike. As said, Silverstone is not an easy track to learn because there are many racing lines, and it is so widely. Given the short preparation is going well. Hopefully I can maintain the upward trend at the Nürburgring.”
