Bobryshev and Campano in the top ten at Grand Prix of Latvia

Evgeny Bobryshev and Carlos Campano from the Yamaha van Beers Racing Team both scored their best result of the season at the tenth round of the World Championship Series in Kegums, Latvia last Sunday. Bobryshev finished in 10th and 9th position in the motos, with these results he placed 8th overall. Carlos Campano rode good as well. He finished in 10th position in both motos and ended the day in 9th place overall. Rob van Vijfeijken scored 8 World Championship points at the Grand Prix of Latvia.


Evgeny Bobryshev:

It was the first time that a Grand Prix was held at the Kegum’s circuit at Latvia. The circuit was sandy and really technical at some places. Evgeny started the weekend positive by finishing in 13th place in the qualification heat.
In the first moto Evgeny took a decent start and came out of the first corner in 15th position. Bobryshev increased his pace and started to make progress during the race. In the middle of the race he reached 12th place. Evgeny knew that he could do better and started to accelerate in the second part of the race. With still a few laps to go he was able to pass two riders and he finished the race in 10th position.
The start of the second moto was better and this time he came out of the first turn in the top 10. Evgeny was able to keep up with the high pace of the rest and and managed to move up to 8th position. He was able to maintain this position for a long time. Unfortunately he was overtaken in the closing metres and finished the race in 9th place.
The talented Russian finished eight overall and sits in 21st position in the World Championship Standings.


 

Carlos Campano and Rob van Vijfeijken:

Carlos Campano and Rob van Vijfeijken started the weekend convincing by finishing in 15th and 16th place in the qualification heat on Saturday. The start of the first moto went less well and at the end of the first lap Carlos crossed the start/finish line in 21st position while Rob went into the second lap in 26th position. Carlos started to accelerate and managed to move up to 14th position. During the rest of the moto he was able to gain four more places and crossed the finish line in 10th position. Rob van Vijfeijken also recovered well and finished in 18th place scoring 3 World Championship points.
In the second moto Rob van Vijfeijken had a great start and went into the first turn around 10th place. On the difficult circuit Rob rode in the top fifteen for a long time, but in the middle of the race he dropped back to 17th place. Rob did not give up and gained one position and finished in 16th position. Carlos Campano had to come back from 20th position. He had a consistent pace and with still five laps to go he moved into tenth position. Carlos stayed cool in the closing stages of the race and finished in 10th place.

Carlos finished ninth overall while Rob ended the day in 19th position. After ten rounds Carlos sits in 19th position in the Championship and Rob is in 27th position.

Next weekend the series continue in Uddevalla, Sweden.
