SCHACHT SHINES AT MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT MARCO SIMONCELLI

21-06-2017

Alex Schacht has scored a fantastic tenth place in today’s Superstock 1000 European Championship race at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli at the Adriatic coast in Italy. Alex had a perfect start from nineteenth place on the grid as he was in sixteenth position after the first tricky Misano corners and he was able to maintain his position in a hectic first lap.

Thanks to a crash in front, Alex promoted himself to fifteenth place and halfway through the race Alex improved again one place before the red flag came out after a technical issue for Roberto Tamburini.
After a small break – necessary to clean the circuit – there was a five lap shoot out on the programme and therefore the start was even more important than normal. Alex understood this very well and was in ninth place after lap one. At the end, he finished the race in a very well-deserved tenth place.

In the championship Alex is in fourteenth place with fourteen points. He’s on equal points with Matteo Ferrari in thirteenth place.

The Superstock 1000 European Championship riders will be back on track after the summer break at the Lausitzring in Germany from August 18-20.
Alex: “This was really an incredible race! This time the top-10-finish was so deserved as I did it all by myself! We improved the setting and the best lap time again in the race, and I was in eighth place in the last lap, but then I almost crashed but luckily the front tyre found some grip again and only two guys were able to overtook me. It’s really amazing to score a top-10 again after starting from only nineteenth on the grid! Thanks to the team for a great weekend and we are now fourteenth in the championship!”
