PODIUM FOR METCHER AT MAGNY-COURS

08-10-2014

Jed Metcher has scored a very well-deserved third place in this weekend’s European Superstock 1000 race at a very wet and slippery Magny-Cours in the centre of France. Metcher started the ‘grande finale Superstock 1000’ from thirteenth on the grid after some difficulties in the time practice and free practice sessions. Because of the tricky conditions, there were many crashes. One of these victims was EAB Racing Team rider Fabio Massei. The Italian qualified himself on the front row and was fast from the first lap, but a crash in the famous Adelaide harpin ended his change on a podium finish.

Jed Metcher: “I’m very happy with today’s result and I want to thank my team for the great support at both Jerez and Magny-Cours. To be honest, we were lucky to score a podium finish but we are there and that’s what count. It was a great experience on the EAB Racing Team Ducati Panigale and I would like to thank my team, my sponsors and my family. I’ve had some bad moments last year and they helped me a lot in those hard times. Saturday I told my team that rain should give us a change. With more time on the bike, better results are possible, that’s for sure. And like I said earlier this weekend, in European Superstock 1000 everything is possible and that´s what I´ve showed in the race.”

Fabio Massei: “It’s a real shame that I lost control of the Ducati in the Adelaide hairpin as a good result should be possible today. This weekend started so well with the best time in free practice and a front row start. But this is racing and the conditions were very tricky. Although it’s not how I wanted to end this season, I would like to thank my team for this year.”

Massei ended the 2014 European Superstock 1000 championship in seventh, only seventeenth points behind the number three. Metcher has scored, despite the race crash at Jerez, a fifteenth place in the final standings.
