EAB Racing Team signs Massei and Covena

08-12-2014

Fabio Massei and Tony Covena will defend the colours of the EAB Racing Team in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup in 2015. Massei scored two podium finishes last year  on the highly-anticipated 1199 Panigale R, the absolute flagship of the Ducati range and the machine specially developed with enhanced technical specification by Ducati Corse. The goal of the Italian for 2015 is clear; he wants to fight for the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup championship.

Fabio Massei: “The goal for my team and me is indeed to win the title in 2015. We know that we can do it and I'm sure and confident about our potential! In 2014 we were every weekend fast from the first session until the race, but we hadn’t the luck we deserved. Last week we had a test in Jerez, still with the 2014 bike, but we have worked very well and we were fast on a wet and dry track.”

Tony Covena had a year to forget in World Supersport. But despite many problems, the Dutchman was still able to score seven world championship points in his first season. Previously, Covena impressed in the European Superstock 600 Championship with three podiums and sixth place overall scores in 2010 and 2013. Covena is fully confident that he can forget 2014 aboard the EAB Racing Team 1199 Panigale R soon.

Tony Covena: “After a hard year in World Supersport I’m over the moon to ride in 2015 for EAB Racing Team. It was time to leave the 600 category as I’m sure the Panigale fits better with my physical condition. The first test at Jerez de la Frontera was very good, also because Fabio helped me a lot. Although I still have to learn many things, I was already fast after the first day on a dry track. I can’t wait until the next test.”

Ferry Schoenmakers (team owner EAB Racing Team): “I'm very pleased that we can announce already our riders for 2015. Fabio has shown many times that he can fight for victory in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup and we are confident that he still can make a big step in 2015. Tony has scored three podiums in the Superstock 600 FIM European Championship. We know from the past how hard that is and his first test on the 1199 Panigale R was promising, so we are looking forward to 2015.”
