Fabio Massei has scored a very hard-fought tenth place in today’s sixth Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race of 2015 at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy. The EAB Racing Team rider crashed out of yesterday’s qualification session and had to start the race from seventh on the grid. Thanks to a brilliant start Massei was in fifth during the first two laps, but was forced to slow down after some unexpected problems. After fifteen laps of action Massei had to settle with tenth in his second home race of the year.
Massei’s EAB Racing Team mate Tony Covena had a hard race as well, although he refound his fast rhythm from the last races in Saturday afternoon’s qualification. But after a difficult start, Covena found himself back outside the top-20 and had a lot of difficulties with overtaking other riders and because of that he had to be satisfied with nineteenth place.
Fabio Massei: “The first laps were very promising, but then something happened on the bike. I lost a lot of power and grip and had no traction and anti-wheeling control for example. In a very fast corner the bike switched of at once and for a minute I thought my race was over, but when I shifted back, the bike switched on again but at that moment I was already in tenth. A real shame as we could score a very good result. Hopefully this is the end of all the bad luck we had over the year. We will give everything at Jerez de la Frontera and Magny-Cours in France later this year to end the season in a positive way.”
