SIXTH FOR MASSEI AT MAGNY-COURS

05-10-2015

Fabio Massei has scored a sixth place in this weekend’s final Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race of 2015 at a cloudy but dry Magny-Cours. The start of the race day was very hectic after a red flag in the World Superbike warming-up because of oil on the track. As a result, both the World Supersport and Superstock 1000 FIM Cup warming-up session were cancelled.

Massei had to start from twelfth of the grid after a challenging qualification session. The start of the EAB Racing Team rider was brilliant but Massei was pushed wide in the long right hander of the French track and lost also some places on the back straight. Luckily ‘The Fighter’ was able to recover and finished the race in a strong sixth place. Thanks to sixty points the Ducati 1199 Panigale R rider ended the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup championship in eight, just a couple of points away from a top five classification.

Fabio Massei: “Of course, sixth isn’t bad at all, but after my perfect start I had the feeling a better result should be possible. In the first eight laps my race pace was good, but at the end I wasn’t able to overtook the other riders and ended in sixth. My goal for this weekend was a podium finish and it’s a shame that they pushed me wide after the start. I would like to thank all my team members and my sponsors for 2015 and I will be back stronger in 2016.”

Tony Covena had a weekend to forget at Magny-Cours. The Dutch EAB Racing Team rider started the race from twenty-nine and finished in twenty-five place. “It was like Jerez a very hard and difficult weekend. We tried a lot but it didn’t help me witch is a shame. Thanks to my team and sponsors for the support this season witch was a special year of high and lows.”
