It’s not only the hundreds of thousands of car and motorcycle owners who need to be cautious about using E10 gasoline in their tanks, but also all the users of hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, outboard engines, lawnmowers and chainsaws, because this product could be destroying their equipment.
Yes, the new “green gasoline”, which has taken the place of the Euro 95 E5, is better for the environment, however, what is not widely-known is that this product has a bio-ethanol percentage of 10 instead of the 5 percent bio-ethanol which the 95 E5 product had and this in turn shortens the shelf-life of the gasoline. “Within a few months, the fuel is tainted and is transformed into a muddy substance that damages and destroys parts of the engine of your equipment or vehicle. "Ten percent alcohol will damage the material of small machines, especially where the rubber has been replaced by cardboard,” says mechanic Peter de Jong of Teekers Tuinmachines in Geesteren.
