Kirkham finishes with a double win!

12-10-2010

Metzeler National Superstock 1000 champion 2010, Jon Kirkham (Samsung Mobile Racing) has finished of his season with another win on Sunday at Oulton Park, Cheshire.

Kirkham rounded off his Metzeler National Superstock 1000 championship season in style, on his Clarks BMW s1000rr, beating 2008 title holder Glen Richards, on the Padgett's Honda, to win by a just under half a second at one of his favourite circuits.

Jon said " Two wins in a weekend is awsome, it was a lot warmer than I thought and I had a slide on the warm up lap, so took it steady for the first few race laps. I had a late braking point into Lodge Corner, so was able to make time there and take the lead. Glen Richards was fast and I knew he would be there until the end, but I managed to stay in control and take another good win, the best way to end the season and go into next year."

An excellent season for Kirkham, who was left without a ride at short notice at the start of the year, has proved his winning streak remains and Jon is hungry for more.

He commented "I was left without a ride at the start of the year, as the team who I was to join, lost a sponsor, so we did it ourselves on an overdraft. The season just got better, I was winning and my consistency paid off by taking the title with two rounds still to go. My confidence is high and my riding is at its best, so I will try to be in Superbikes next year and put in a few surprise results! I have brought in good support from Clarks BMW, Samsung Mobile and SICK sensor intelligence, alongside my other supporters and I can only thank everyone, for everything this year, you know who you are!"
