Top-10 for Van der Mark after tough race

09-05-2011

Michael van der Mark (STK600):

“My start was very good but after the first corner some riders overtook my very heavily. That costed me a lot of time and I lost the connection with the leaders, a real shame because my race pace was good. But after all I’m satisfied as the start of the weekend wasn’t easy, it was my first time here at Monza and I scored six valuable points for the championship.”

Luca Verdini has left Monza also with a positive feeling. The Italian rider ended the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race in eleventh position. A good result after the problems he had during the practice sessions at Friday and Saturday and during the warming-up at Sunday morning. Verdini began the race very well from his sixteenth starting position and overtook a couple of riders in the opening laps. With five laps remaining the race was red flagged due oil on the track and some heavy crashes. After the break Verdini started very good again and was close to the lead. Unfortunality he lost some time at the exit of Lesmo II but he showed in the last part of the race that he is getting closer and closer to the front of the field.

Luca Verdini (STK1000):

“My start was good, twice. But unfortunately I couldn’t follow the leading group and ended just outside the top-10. Still I’m happy with my performance in the race because we had some problems at Friday and Saturday. I’m really looking forward to the next race at Misano. This circuit is located only 20 kilometres from my home town Pesaro. I love to ride at Misano!”
