Second win for Van der Mark!

Like his Dutch team-mate, Italian Ferruccio Lamborghini also had a successful Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race in Germany, despite some problems.

Van der Mark started very well from the third place and after the first corner he was leading the field. Despite a few heavy but fair position changes with Jed Metcher (Yamaha), the Dutchman found a very fast rhythm and was able to push away. Van der Mark kept the lead for the remaining five laps and became the first rider this year to double up at the top.

Michael van der Mark (STK600): “It was a very hard race but I’m so happy with this win. I was able to power away after a very heavy opening lap. It wasn’t easy at all but I could hold the pace. I would like to thank my team who gave me a perfect Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR as I smashed the lap record with nearly half a second. As I told before the race weekend here at the Nürburgring, we needed a decent result and that's what we got!”

Ferruccio Lamborghini has scored two points in Sunday’s Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race at the Nürburgring. A better result was possible but the Italian rider had unfortunality some difficulties by the start and in the first corners. Luckily, he remained calm and found a fast rhythm. At the end, his fighting spirit was rewarded by two points.

Ferruccio Lamborghini: “The starting procedure in the Italian Moto2 championship is very short. Here they take more time… This gave me major problems in the first very important meters of the race because the clutch was too hot. Besides, I lost a lot of time in the first corners so I had to fight very hard during the race. It is a real shame because my race rhythm was good. After all, I’m satisfied with my race, except the first minute. Let see what Imola brings in three weeks!”
