HARD RACE FOR EAB RACING TEAM

28-04-2014

Fabio Massei has scored an eight place in today’s European Superstock 1000 race at a wet and very tricky TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The EAB Racing Team rider started the race from fourth on the grid, but had a very difficult sprint to the first corner and lost a lot of time in the first lap. Luckily, Massei didn’t panic as it was very easy to make a mistake and finished the race in eight place. The race was delayed by two hours because of heavy rain in the afternoon in the north of the Netherlands.

Fabio Massei: "It was very important to score points after my ‘did not finish’ in Aragon, but we can’t be satisfied with eight place as we qualified our self in fourth place. Normally my start is always good, but this time it wasn’t and it took me a lot of time to recover this. My race pace wasn’t too bad, but after such a hard start it’s almost impossible to recover. Hopefully we have more luck at Imola, a track that I really like. With Misano and Imola there are two Italian races on the program and I will do everything I can to score some good results in my home races.”

Alex Schacht ended in twelfth place and that was a big miracle as the Danish EAB Racing Team rider had a massive crash in yesterday’s single qualification session. As a result of that crash, Schacht had to start from the eighteenth place on the grid and that was a big disadvantage in the rainy conditions. Like his team mate Schacht didn’t panic as well en scored his first points for the EAB Racing Team.

Alex Schacht: “It was the first time for me in the rain on the Ducati Panigale so it took me some time to find a good rhythm. It was very hard to see anything as there was so much spray in the first laps. In the rain my start is always slow in contrast when it’s dry when I’m fast from the first minute. My lap times were fine half way but someone in front of me crashed and I had to go really wide. With a better start position there was more possible today, but I’m happy that I was fine of the crash and that I've scored points.”
