First GP in over a year for Kevin Fors

22-04-2015

Last weekend the fourth GP of the MXGP world championship took place in the Italian Trentino region. This race was the first round on European soil, was the first GP the KFI racing team and also the first GP in over a year for Kevin Fors.

After the injury last year Kevin missed the whole GP season , but is now building towards his best speed again.

On saturday things started of a little rusty. After a difficult qualification heat Kevin had the 23rd gate pick for the races on sunday.

At the start of the first moto Kevin got involved in a first corner crash. He got back in the race in last position and tried to go forward as much as possible. In the end Fors crossed the finish line in 25th position.
In the second race Fors guided his Yamaha YZ250F to a better start. He lost some positions in the chaos of the first lap but soon moved back up to a solid 16th place. A crash in the later stages of the race costed him a top 20 finish. He dropped to 22nd  and finished just outside the top 20.

Kevin Fors: “ I’m happy this monkey is of my back… It was a though track to make a comeback. I haven’t ridden these fast tracks in over a year. That plus the intensity you get at a gp made it really hard. There is only one way to get used to this again and that is by riding Gp races. I struggled a lot on saturday but my riding improved as the weekend moved on. In the first race I lost a lot of time in the start crash. It’s already hard to make up time when you have a good start, so when you lose time it’s even harder. The second moto I was feeling more comfortable to score some points, but I tipped over and needed some time to get going again. Now we go to Valkenswaard next week. In one way I look forward racing in the sand as I’m more used to that, but it will be physically hard too…  “
